Easter festivities are fully of dying eggs, munching on chocolate bunnies, and spending time with loved ones. Take your celebrations up a notch this Spring and go Bermudian!
Bermudians celebrate Good Friday with an annual kite festival. Local legend has it that a teacher used a kite to demonstrate the Ascension of Christ to heaven to his students. Since then, locals have celebrated Good Friday by dotting the sky with their kites composed of tissue paper and bamboo. Awards are given to the best kit, biggest kite, smallest kite, longest tail, highest kite, and even the ugliest kite. Families hunt for eggs, play marbles, and munch on fishcake.
