What’s New for 2009?

October 2, 2009

Despite the dry summer and with lots of irrigation, we have an excellent pumpkin crop this year.  The corn in the maze is the best we have had in 8 years.  About 30 new carved pumpkins have been added to the Pumpkin Stroll bringing the total to over 500 carved and lighted pumpkins.  2009 has been a year of enhancement with not so many new activities added; however, a third pedal cart track with new Turbo bikes has been added as well as a corn crib filled with corn grain in Little Farmersville.  Also, we have a new Pony Ride concessionaire for the little guys on weekends.  To reduce time spent in lines we have added a new food prep kitchen, a new walk-in cooler,  and there will be 4 pumpkin check out stations on busy days.  Zekes has been redesigned with a hamburger grill added, a new (and quieter deep fryer) in Legs and Fries, the Sweet Shop has been enhanced with home made fudge added, a sprinkler system was added and lots of new landscape plants.  A new slide, a rope tunnel, a rope bridge and a spider tower have been added to the Fort DewHickey plus 3 life size wooden Indians and cowboys will be at the front of the Fort to greet you.  The pig races have been upgraded and a sound system with background music has been added that covers almost the entire activity area.  Twenty benches with shade have been added for your comfort.  Our goal for 2009 was to make your visit to Dewberry Farm a more pleasant one.  We would really appreciate hearing your comments about the changes and your suggestions for improvements.
